About NIko
My personal fitness journey was inspired by the idea that if it can be done I can do it. That very idea has carried my fitness education and physical ability to heights I had never previously imagined. The journey truly begin for me at the age of 18 when I started taking martial arts classes in order to pursue MMA competition. (Kickboxing, wrestling, Bjj & Muay Thai) One of the first things I had realize was in order to be a well-rounded fighter, I need it to be a different caliber of athlete than what I was accustomed to. That led me to look into different forms of movement, exercise & physical activity. The three arts that specifically stood out to me were calisthenics, gymnastics and tricking. From that point I became somewhat obsessed with movement. That obsession quickly became my lifestyle & also landed me a job coaching gymnastics for about a year. Over the course of that year I gained more knowledge about human physiology and the developmental process needed to achieve specific skills & that further inspired me to want to know more. After leaving the gymnastics gym I decided to further invest in my education. I was 24 years old & decided to focus on getting certified to personal train. Fast forward I’ve now been a personal trainer for 6 years. I worked out of commercial gyms for a little while and even became head instructor of calisthenics at a private gym, the only place in San Antonio that offered calisthenics. 2020 happened & that gym closed. I decided it was time to branch out and establish my own personal brand & (try) to run my own independent business. Took me so long to learn how to run a business & manage my time money & most importantly self value. Fortunate for me I received a lot of mentorship along the way. People Like Andy Travis (unshakable fitness) & Mike Primeau (Arpwave mike) really gave me tools i needed to learn how to get the ball rolling and keep it rolling. A lot of things changed. Since then I’ve continued my education in athletic performance, nutrition, anatomy & physiology. All while Coaching/Instructing in Multiple gym environments with different calibers of athletes and non athletes. speaking of which, that same year in December of 2020 I was offer a position as head Muay Thai instructor at my gym at the time’s south side location. Cant pretend that didn’t change my life. Over the Last 5 years I spent a lot of time focusing on coaching Muay Thai for that gym until 2024 I quit. Lets just say I was treated unfairly & keep moving. I wasn’t sure what was next, my only option was putting all my eggs in the basket of business ownership full time. Fast forward to march 2025 when it comes to Muay Thai we now represent abstract athletics & our very own Nak Muay’s ( Muay Thai fighters) are up to B class competition.
In addition to that, I once again host Calisthenics classes at The District Bouldering. The only Calisthenics classes in San Antonio. You can become an abstract athletics member & get access to unlimited classes or just drop in for a class at your leisure Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday at 11:00 am & 12:30 pm.
I love to share my education and experiences with “Motivated Individuals who want to improve their lives” as well as help build the ever growing calisthenics & fitness community here in San Antonio. Welcome to Abstract Athletics
